After 17 years of being barried beneath the trees, their await comes to an end. Coming out of the ground in droves. Billions of cicades emerging together. They don't bite or sting but they are everywhere. They try to climb to the top of trees to find a place to shed into their current shell. They come completely out of their shells, to mate, lay eggs, and then die off. The loud noise that is heard is the males calling the females to mate. The mating lasts three to four weeks. The female then bore holes in the branches of the trees, to barry hundreds of eggs. Once this process is complete, so are their lives. They then start to die off and after 6 weeks to two months all that is left is the shells of the cicadas. However, the babies start to hatch, come out of the branches, and go straight in the ground, for another 17 years.
